When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and there was a black horse. The horseman on it had a set of scales in his hand. – Revelation 6:5
As the Lamb opens the seals of the scroll laying out the events of time past, present, and future we see the times of the black horse past and present. The black horse speaks to mourning, the darkness - all reflective of the deep, dark depravity of man’s inventions and arrogance.
The Word and message of Christ's redeeming work that had gone out pure is corrupted and soiled through the ages and today by arrogant men conjuring doctrines of their own from the worship of store-bought saints, to the sales of indulgences that pay for your sin, salvation through work and the right size check, to the pernicious lies of the prosperity gospel, and the manipulation in every depraved way of the young, needy and exposed.
God sees, He knows and He has given us truth in His Scripture that we may flee from the lies of wolves in sheep clothing. Vengeance is His. He has taken measure and in those scales, found them woefully corrupt. He will repay.
Apply everything you hear in church, the marketplace, news, and very life experience against the solid Word of God. Everything. The Word is Truth.
Don’t trust the flatterers any more than you should fear the accusers and mockers. God is with you.
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, the Life. Believe this, live this, and tell of this good news.
Serve Him, pray, teach the truth, be fruitful in good works, and care for the believer and unbelievers alike.
Live a full, content, and awestruck life pleasing to your Maker, your Savior, and your neighbor.
The crown of life and the gift of eternal joy awaits, my friends.
“Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves. You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles? – Matthew 7:15-16
