Humble Yourself

What should I bring before the Lord when I come to bow before God on high? Should I come before Him with burnt offerings, with year-old calves? Would the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams or with ten thousand streams of oil? Should I give my firstborn for my transgression, the child of my body for my own sin? Mankind, He has told you what is good and what it is the Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God. - Micah 6:6-8 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’ Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers! - Matthew 7:21-23

The Hell earned guilt of every one of us is before us. Murder, lies, theft, idolatry, adultery, and covetous and pride. Every reader is guilty.

God will not be finessed, bought off, or negotiated with. 'Church-going' men and women who say 'Lord, Lord' for decades can carry their hidden sins and their pride right into their grave. They clothe themselves in denial; seeking ways to worm out of punishment God has told them they will receive for never knowing Him, never loving Him, and never obeying Him.

Some look to buy off their sins while still hoarding their pride and arrogance with good church attendance, tax deductible charity work, or just being so much of a 'better person' by lying, stealing, coveting, and cheating less than the 'other guy'.

Repent of your destructive pride and sin. Confess all your sins you've been hiding and plead for His mercy that by His grace alone that you would be given a new heart that loves Him and serves Him as Lord of All.

Act justly, be faithful, and walk humbly with your God just as He's told you.

Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice. For I didn’t come to call the righteous, but sinners.” - Matthew 9:13
